Bereavement
Community Nurse & Hospice Care provides bereavement support to members of our community who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Typically, support groups meet one night each week for six weeks. The group is open to all members of the community, regardless of whether or not you or your family have received services from us. Members can expect to receive coping techniques and share their experiences, grief, hopes, and strengths with other members in an inviting and calm environment.
For more information on support groups in your area, call Jennifer Marszalek at 508-992-6278, ext. 2531.
Wellness in the Community

Strong Women, Strong Bones
Community Nurse & Hospice Care is fortunate to have a dedicated and driven staff member like Pat Midurski, Director of Wellness and Alzheimer's Coordinator. In 2004, Pat participated in the Strong Women, Strong Bones training program at Tuft's University. The program, developed by Dr. Miriam Nelson of Tuft's University, is based upon years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improves the health of women of all ages. Her studies confirmed that exercise in women improves bone density, reduces falls, improves arthritis symptoms, and increases flexibility and strength.
For more information about a Strong Women, Strong Bones exercise program near you, contact Pat Midurski at 508-996-0368, or by email at pmidurski@communitynurse.com.
Friendly Visitor Program
The Friends of the Marion Visiting Nurses, concerned about the health of isolated seniors in their community, provided funding to Community Nurse & Hospice Care to work with three area Councils on Aging to develop a Friendly Visitor Program. This outreach program will provide for friendly visits to seniors in the towns of Rochester, Marion, and Mattapoisett who are socially isolated and can benefit from social interaction.
For more information about the Tri-Town Friendly Visitor Program or to volunteer your services one hour each week, contact the following Council on Aging Centers:
| Marion: | 508-748-3570 |
| Mattapoisett: | 508-758-4110 |
| Rochester: | 508-763-8723 |
The towns of Dartmouth and Fairhaven also have a Friendly Visitor Program. Community Nurse & Hospice Care provided training to volunteers in both towns so that the need for friendly visits to seniors who are socially isolated would be met.
For more information about the Friendly Visitor Program or to volunteer, contact the following Council on Aging Centers:
| Dartmouth: | 508-999-4717 |
| Fairhaven: | 508-979-4029 |
