… for Community Nurse & Hospice Care’s Diabetes Boot Camp.  Community Nurse & Hospice Care presents an exciting collaborative, interactive four-part community education series at the Dartmouth Council on Aging. If you are diabetic, your loved one is diabetic or you are a caregiver for someone with diabetes, don’t miss this complimentary informational series. Each session will be held at the Dartmouth Council on Aging from 10-11:30 am.

Tuesday April 23rd

Week One:

Navigating through the maze of diabetes testing supplies can be just as daunting as receiving a diabetes diagnosis. Steve Miglizzi from Neighborhood Diabetes will educate participants about glucometers, test strips, and testing solution. Steve will also discuss insurance coverage for these products. 

 

Tuesday April 30th

Week Two:

Are you facing a new diagnosis of diabetes or are you a seasoned vet looking to refresh your knowledge?  Has your physician changed your diabetes medications? Amanda Carvalho, RN from The Royal Health Group is a Certified Diabetes Educator, who has undergone intense training and specializes in how medications work with your body to treat diabetes.

 

Tuesday May 7th

Week Three:

Are you newly diagnosed with diabetes and stumped by what you can and cannot eat? Or are you tired of eating the same old meals? Looking to spice up your diabetes friendly meal options? Barbara Canuel RD MA from Community Nurse & Hospice Care is a registered dietician who will discuss diabetic diets and common diet pitfalls.  Her fantastic presentations help patients translate the dietary recommendations of health professionals into useful information to plan for and prepare meals and snacks.

Week Four:

Diabetes can affect anyone, even health care professionals. Janet Hodziewich, RN and Certified Diabetes Educator from Community Nurse & Hospice Care will discuss her notable experience as a clinician and a patient struggling with the everyday hurdles of living with diabetes.
